Teaching Session #42 - Sunday 12th September 6.30pm
The Books of 1 and 2 Samuel

Main speaker - David Wilkins
Host for the evening - Graham Wilkins

David writes:
"1 and 2 Samuel - a Flawed Solution
The books of Samuel (originally one single book) contain many of the best known Bible stories, especially if you grew up in Sunday School. We have all heard the story of Samuel being called to by God for the first time, and who can forget the story of David and Goliath? But this book contains Israel’s flawed solution to their main problem. The Judges and Prophets couldn’t hold them in check, so they asked for a king. But what do you do when the kind of person who wants the throne is the wrong person to ask? And when the best person for the job either doesn’t want it or worse, is corrupted by it.

David and Graham Wilkins will explain what we can learn from this book and how even when the solution to a problem is flawed, God uses a man of God with huge moral failings to announce the coming of the Messiah."

Have your Bible ready, bring an open and enquiring mind and as always plenty of questions.
